Pedestrian hit, killed on U.S. 301 in rural Pasco County

A 60-year-old Zephyrhills man was struck by a car and killed while walking on U.S. 301 in rural Pasco County late Tuesday, authorities said.

Herschek Jeekubg was walking in the inside northbound lane of U.S. 301 around 10:35 p.m. when he was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Colbalt, the Florida Highway Patrol said. He died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Kevin Juergens, 26, of Dade City, suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending, the FHP said.
