A man was killed and a 16-year-old driver was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County early Sunday, authorities say.

Around 8:20 a.m., a 2008 Nissan sedan was traveling erratically as it approached the County Line Road overpass. The driver lost control of the car, which left the interstate and crashed into the guardrail at the overpass, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The passenger, a 23-year-old Lakeland man, died at the scene. The driver, also from Lakeland was taken to Lakeland Regional Health in critical condition. Their identities have not been released.
