Citrus County commissioners have voted down an idea from commissioner Dennis Damato to build a boat ramp three miles west of U.S. 19 at the Gulf of Mexico.
His proposal would have ditched a large boat ramp at U.S. 19 on the cross Florida barge canal in favor of the smaller one.
Commissioners argued that building a road to the ramp would have cost as much as building the ramp and parking, around $3 million more.
