The University of South Florida's College of Business has received a major donation.

The university's Muma College of Business received a $10.9-million gift from Barry and Dana Collier, the university announced Thursday.

USF President Judy Genshaft said a new student success program and center will be named for the Collier family. The Collier Student Success Center will be part of a program to prepare business students for the working world.

"These students are Florida's future business leaders," said Barry Collier, a USF alumnus. "They are going to be the ones that drive the future economic engine in Florida."

The Collier family has been a longtime supporter of the Muma College of Business, particularly to student scholarships and the college’s Corporate Mentor Program, which serves students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Collier is a 1980 graduate of the USF Muma College of Business.

"We are deeply grateful to Barry and Dana Collier for a gift that will have an enormous and positive impact on USF business students and their future achievements," Genshaft said. "Our university’s most important mission is preparing students for success in life, and this extraordinary gift will ensure that our students – particularly those who are the first in their families to attend college - have the skills, mentoring and preparation they need to be successful from the start."
