The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is now offering an active calls monitor.

The move is an effort to keep Hernando County residents informed regarding the call volume of their emergency services personnel, said Sheriff Al Nienhuis.

Residents can log onto the Hernando County Sheriff's Office website and view information on:

  • 9-1-1 calls
  • Number assigned by computer aided dispatch for tracking purposes
  • Hernando County Sheriff's Office
  • Hernando County Fire/Rescue
  • Brooksville Police Department
  • Brooksville Fire/Rescue
  • Date and time call was received in the Consolidated Communications Center
  • Call Type
  • The reason for the response
  • Location of the response by District and Zone
  • View the Active Calls Monitor on the HCSO site

Sheriff Nienhuis said the site is a great way for the public to have a better understanding of just how busy first responders are in the county.

There is a delay in the information being posted for the safety of deputies, officers, firefighters and medical crews.

"The handful of people on any given shift in our Emergency Communications Center work hard, handling the 800 - 1000 incoming telephone calls they receive every day," Nienhuis said. "The result is what you see on this monitor. You will also notice that our first responders stay very busy, often forgoing meal breaks during their shifts."
