Detectives are searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a 93-year-old man in Tampa.

Around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, police said, William John Thompson was crossing the road in the 2800 block of E. Busch Boulevard when a person driving a gold 1995 Saturn hit him.

The victim, whom police said was not in the crosswalk, hit the hood and the windshield of the vehicle.

Police said the suspect fled west on Busch Boulevard. The Saturn was found with a smashed windshield abandoned on the side of the road at 18th and Fairbanks streets.

According to witnesses, there were multiple people inside the vehicle at the time of the hit-and-run. Detectives want to talk to those passengers.

Police said the passengers in the vehicle are not facing charges, but charges are possible if they withhold information relevant to a crime.
