Tropical Storm Ida remains a fish storm in the central Atlantic Ocean.

It's located about 1,045 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

Ida has generally been moving toward the south near 2 mph.  A slow eastward motion is expected later today, followed by a turn toward the north on Thursday.

Ida's intensity probably won't change much during the next couple of days.  Vertical shear is forecast to gradually weaken the storm, so some strengthening is possible this weekend once the shear has decreased.  It's no threat to land.
