A motorcyclist died Wednesday morning after he was hit by a Jeep in Homosassa.

The crash happened at 11:46 a.m. at the intersection of Kingston Road and U.S. 19.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Alex J. Colebrooke, 25, of Inglis, was riding his 2001 Honda motorcycle east on Kingston Road. At the same time, Martin J. Fry, 54, of Homosassa, was traveling south on U.S. 19.

Troopers said Colebrooke stopped at the posted stop sign at the intersection, then drove into the path of Fry's 2015 Jeep.

The Jeep hit Colebrooke's left side, throwing him from the motorcycle, troopers said.

Colebrooke was taken by air to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators say no charges will be filed.
