Several of the candidates running for President of the United States are already holding elected positions.

Three of those include Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

During a nationally broadcasted interview, Senator Paul took issue with Senator Cruz and Rubio’s voting records.

He said, “Both Cruz and Rubio are missing the vast majority of their votes.”

PolitiFact Florida heard the claim and decided to put it to the Truth-O-Meter.

PolitiFact writer Joshua Gillin said it received a MOSTLY FALSE rating.

Gillin said PolitiFact looked at several different sets of data in an effort to see if Paul’s claim held up.  While Senators Cruz and Rubio have missed an increasing number of votes, they’ve not missed a majority.

“What we really found out though is that the last quarter of 2015, October through December, that’s when things really changed,” Gillin said.  “And that’s when they have the debates and a lot of campaigning is going on, Rubio has missed 58% of his votes in that timeframe. And Cruz has missed 30%.”

Gillin went on to say that Senator Paul missed around 20% of his votes during that same timeframe.

For that reason, Senator Paul’s claim received a MOSTLY FALSE rating.
