A Hernando County mom is in a race against time. She desperately needs a new kidney, so she has turned to social media for help after waiting years on the transplant list.

Lisa Kroll is doing her best to stay strong. She has been on a waiting list for a new kidney for nearly three years now, but no luck. She feels like time is running out.

"I have two wonderful kids and I just want to watch my kids grow up," she said. "That's all I want you know, is to love my kids as long as I can."

Kroll has Stage 5 renal disease caused by damage from an allergic reaction to an over-the-counter medication. She said being on the transplant list and waiting by the phone is exhausting, so she has turned to social media.

"To have that vulnerability to reach out to total strangers, please help me, it's humbling," Lisa said.

Kroll and her family have created a Facebook page. She is asking for help, she is searching for someone who will donate a kidney.

"It's to save my life," she said.

Kroll said a few people have offered to help, but she is not sure if any of them will be a match. Her mother Nancy has her fingers crossed.

"We have a lot of people praying for Lisa," she said.

"It's hard, but you do it," Kroll said. "I have to do it. I have no choice. I need help."

It's a creative plan, that could save a life.
