A pet sitting service has been ordered to shut down after a dog died while in the service's care.

Manatee County Code Enforcement has ordered Peter Pam’s Puppies Pet Sitting and Boarding in Bradenton to close down for operating illegally.

Code Enforcement began investigating the pet sitting business after a six-pound Yorkie, K'Lah, was attacked and bitten by a 90-pound dog while staying there.

K'Lah was left with severe injuries and had to be put down.

K'Lah's owners, Linda and Jim Dwyer, maintain that they were told prior to leaving K'Lah and their other dog, Gracie, with Peter Pam's that the two dogs would not be kept near any larger dogs.

County officials issued a notice of code violations earlier this week to the business and ordered the owner to discontinue operations by Monday.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
