Here's what you need to know about the Tampa Bay area's weather forecast for Wednesday and the rest of the week:

  • Cold front to arrive Thursday
  • Thursday likely to see rain, thunderstorm
  • Friday should be cool with gusty winds

A cold front is on the way that will drastically change our weather.

Clouds will increase into early Thursday morning, with some areas of fog. Temperatures will remain mild, with lows in the mid-60s.

So expect a rather gloomy looking Thursday morning. The fog will burn off quickly but we will have mostly cloudy skies.

Temperatures will still be mild, but not as warm as the past couple days due to the extra cloud cover.

Highs will reach the mid-70s, but near 80 farther inland. Rain will move in from the gulf and move slowly across the region. It will first move into areas closer to the coast and farthest north. So expect showers moving into Citrus, Hernando, western Pasco, and Pinellas County in the morning. Then the rain will move eastward across the area.

So areas in Polk and eastern Manatee County will see the rain last in the afternoon. There will be embedded thunderstorms mixed in with the rain but at this time we do not anticipate a widespread severe event.

All the rain will move out by Thursday night and cooler air will start moving into the region as the cold front passes. Friday morning will feature the last of the clouds clearing out with morning lows in the 40s.

So it will be a shock to the system compared to where we have been this week. Although Friday will be mostly sunny it will be a cool day with highs only in the low-60s.
