A retired Hernando County Sheriff's Office K-9 passed away Tuesday.
According to the Sheriff's Office Facebook page, K-9 Kilo served for eight years, starting in 2006.
During his career, Kilo served his partner, Cpl. Stephen Miller, with distinction. In 2010, Kilo was shot multiple times while apprehending an attempted murder suspect.
Thanks to a bullet- and stab-resistant vest he was wearing, Kilo recovered and returned to full duty.
