A suspect sought in a home invasion in Spring Hill has been arrested.

  • Home invasion happened April 13th
  • Suspect is victim's former roommate

Deputies had been looking for Carl Harris since April 13th. They say Harris was armed, with what later turned out to be a BB gun, when he broke into his former roommate’s home on the 4000 block of Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill.

Deputies said Harris, 32, was angry the victim did not drop charges against him for a previous theft.

In March, the victim had reported Harris stole $6,000 from him. Sometime after Harris' arrest, the two men allegedly made an agreement that if Harris paid the money back, the victim would drop the charges.

Harris wanted to know why the charges had not been dropped yet. Deputies said he returned to the home to give the victim “incentive” to drop the charges.

The victim was able to escape and Harris fled.

Harris was arrested Monday after showing up for a court appearance for the original charge of grand theft. He’s charged with home invasion and witness tampering.  His bond was set at $30,000.
