A Tampa area teacher is set to join an elite group of teachers next week for a trip to the White House.

Robinson High School teacher Tiffany Oliver will be among an elite group of STEM teachers attending a ceremony with the President of the United States. The visit is intended to highlight the President's initiative to recruit teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
"What an amazing opportunity," said Oliver.
A scientist by trade, Oliver has been teaching high-level biology to juniors and seniors for more than a decade, and has received several teaching awards. But she never expected an invitation to the White House.
"I thought it had to be spam or a joke," Oliver laughed.
Her students say Oliver deserves the White House invitation.
"Honestly, I've never had a biology teacher that was A) so knowledgeable about the material, and B) cares so much about teaching it to her students and imparting her knowledge to us," said Robinson senior Abram Scharf.
"Out of all the teachers, I can't think of any other teacher who more deserves to go to the White House," said senior Ky Hopson-Fernandes.
Oliver leaves for Washington D.C. this weekend. The ceremony is Tuesday.
