Five people escaped injury overnight during a house fire in Holiday.

According to Pasco County Fire Rescue, the fire broke out just after 2 a.m. at 3248 Hoover Drive.

Heavy flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived.

There was a large response to the fire. Crews said the neighborhood is compact, creating the concern that flames could easily spread to another home.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control.

Everyone inside the home escaped safely. The family lost a pet in the fire.

Fire officials said the home sustained major damage during the fire, including a roof collapse.

Officials said preliminary indications are that a lit cigarette started the fire. The fire is under investigation.
