Engineering crews continue to assess a depression that has kept a major artery through Seffner closed for two days.

U.S. 92 in Seffner remains closed between Mango Road to Williams Road due the depression.

The depression is about 25 feet wide and 20 feet long, according to Kris Carson, the spokesperson for the Florida Dept. of Transportation.

Officials spotted the depression Wednesday on the east-west roadway, which is also East Hillsborough Avenue. Officials have not said how long the roadway will be blocked off.

Geotechnical consultants have been at the scene both days.

Commuters are advised to use Interstate 4 or east Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

"The geotechnical investigation is ongoing right now," Carson said. "The plan is to grout the hole in the ground under the road and hopefully reopen by midday tomorrow (Saturday) but that is an estimate.

"This area will be closed for tonight’s rush hour and probably tomorrow morning’s rush hour too."
