The driver sought in a hit-and-run crash involving a Largo Police cruiser has turned himself in.

Louis Fontana, 45, has been arrested on misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.

The crash happened Saturday in the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 just north of Roosevelt Boulevard at 10:12 p.m.

Police said Fontana’s 2008 Infinity EX Black Crossover hit an officer’s cruiser which was parked in the curb lane with its emergency lights activated.

The officer was assisting a driver with a disabled vehicle at time. No one was injured in the crash.

Police said Fontana expressed remorse about the incident and apologized. He is suspected of having been drinking and advised he panicked and left the scene of the crash, according to police.
