A Homosassa family was able to escape without injury after fire destroyed their home early Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to a call about a fire at 1041 S. Palm Ave. at 3:29 a.m. When they arrived, they found the single-family home fully involved in fire, with fire and smoke coming from the middle of the home.

Crews eventually brought the fire under control, but not before the home and its contents were destroyed.

Everyone in the house was able to escape safely. No one was injured.

"We just move forward, look for a house, get our stuff together, you know," said Everett Hussey, who lived in the home. "This is going to set us back but no problem, we're all safe."

Officials have not yet released a cause of the fire.
