A 59-year-old Pinellas Park man shot and killed his 25-year-old son before subsequently being shot and killed by police.

  • Incident started with husband getting in fight with wife over beer
  • While wife left house, husband got in fight with adult son
  • Son found shot to death when police arrived at home with wife
  • Police believe alcohol factor in shooting on husband's part

Pinellas Park police officers initially responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on the 6000 block of 96th Terrace in Pinellas Park around 8:48 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, prior to the arrival of officers Waldemar Bogusiewicz, who was reportedly intoxicated, was arguing with his wife, Irena, over who was going to buy more beer.

During this argument police said their son, Adrian, came out only to see what was going on between his parents.

Police said Irena left the home because of her husband's demeanor and then called the police, leaving the son and husband alone in the home.

Sometime between when Irena left the home and when the police arrived on scene, police said Waldemar and his son got into a confrontation that resulted in Waldemar shooting his son multiple times in the son's bedroom.

The officers returned to the home with Irena to investigate the domestic dispute having no knowledge of what had taken place just prior to their arrival, police said.

As the officers and Irena entered the home, they found found Adrian shot to death on his bedroom floor.

At this time, police said Waldemar was seen in the home with a gun in his hand and began yelling for the officers to leave, at which time he began shooting at them.

The officers returned gunfire at Waldemar, who later died at Northside Hospital.

The two officers involved in the shooting were uninjured. Both remain on paid administrative leave per the department's policy.

During a search of the residence, police said multiple firearms were found in both the son's bedroom and the master bedroom.

Autopsy results are pending on both the son and husband; however, police said alcohol does appear to be a factor in the shooting on the part of the husband.
