A registered sex offender sought by Palm Bay police after they say he removed his GPS monitoring device turned himself in Tuesday.

Palm Bay police say 51-year-old Johnny Ray Morgan turned himself in at the Brevard County Detention Center around 2 p.m. and now faces charges of violating his probation.

Morgan was convicted of sexual battery on a child in 1995.

Sunday, police said Morgan removed a GPS tracker from his leg and disappeared.

Police searched his registered address, a homeless camp behind the Walgreens at Minton Road and Malabar road, but didn’t find him.

Morgan is being held without bond and will appear in court Wednesday.
