An Osceola County boy was taken to the hospital after being bit in the face by a dog.

Osceola County's fire chief said the dog, a pit bull, bit a 4-year-old boy Saturday night at a LaSalle Avenue home in St. Cloud.

According to the chief, the child lost a lot of blood and had to be rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

Osceola County Animal Services took custody of the dog.

It is unclear if the pit bull belonged to the boy's family or someone else.

Neighbors said dogs that aren't properly penned up in the area are a danger.

"What happened with that child, that is messed up and that needs to be taken car of, something needs to happen where at least the St. Cloud ASCPA should come out here and get rid of all the dogs. There's no point in them even being here," said neighbor Jason Younassoghlou.

A person inside the home where it happened did not comment.
