Casselberry Police said two suspects in the armed robbery of a cash advance store last month in Casselberry have been arrested in Virginia.

The robbery happened on Nov. 18 at the Advance America Cash Advance located at 1455 State Road 436.

Investigators said Barry Lynn Schmidt, 40, and Lisa Annette Whitaker, 43, entered the business around 6:10 p.m. and Whitaker pretended to be submitting a loan application.  After several minutes police said Schmidt brandished a handgun and ordered the employee to the ground and then tied her up with zip ties while Whitaker removed cash from the drawer. The pair then left in a white pickup truck.

On Wednesday police said Schmidt and Whitaker were arrested in Virginia.  Investigators said Whitaker confessed to the robbery and the store employee identified both of them.

The Casselberry Police Department said they are both facing charges in Virginia and arrest warrants have been obtained for the Casselberry robbery.  Investigators said they each have an extensive criminal history.
