A humpback whale and a dolphin washed up on shore Friday morning in Volusia County.
Around 8:30 a.m., a dolphin was found dead on the beach in the 3000 block of S. New Smyrna Beach.
Farther away, in the 4800 block, the carcass of a 25-foot humpback whale washed ashore.
Volusia County Beach Patrol said SeaWorld was called to remove them and will do a necropsy on the dolphin to find out why it died.
The whale was too badly decomposed for the procedure.
