A major child sex sting dubbed Operation Sand Spider netted 11 arrests and is credited with rescuing three children from further attacks.

All the men are accused of traveling to the area with the intention of having sex with a minor.

Investigators said one of the suspects, an already convicted sex offender, actually brought a teen with him.

The ages for the men arrested range 24 to 69.

  • Melvin Adams, 69, Ft. Pierce, FL
  • Ernesto Corcho, 34, Miami, FL
  • Andrew Reed, 25, Orlando, FL
  • Todd Kroeber, 42, Port Saint Lucie, FL
  • Maxwell Loomis, 23, Micco, FL
  • Christopher Bryant, 35, Ocoee, FL
  • Dexxter Bennett, 25, Orlando, FL
  • Mackendjo Etienne, 21, Fort Pierce, FL

Each is accused of traveling to Brevard to have sex with someone they thought was a 14-year-old boy or girl.

One man, they say, admitted he just got out of prison on similar crimes.

Investigators said undercover agents had been communicating with the suspects for months via email and social media.

Each agreed to meet at an undisclosed location at a certain time.

That's when the arrests were made.

Todd Kroeber, 42, of Port St Lucie, is a registered sex offender, and is accused of bringing a 17-year-old boy with him to force the teen to have sex with who he thought was a child.

Investigators determined he had been having sex with the teen himself and arranged for other men to come to his home for the same thing.
That teen and three others were brought safely into custody.

Investigators said these situations often reveal past crimes.

“A lot of times they will tell us what they've done in the past, and that's when it gets even more frightening, because now you're talking about an individual that not only wants to hurt a child, but someone who is admitting to have hurt a child or bragging about hurting a child,” said Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

All the suspects are being held on a minimum of a $35,000 bond.

Kroeber is in the hands of the U.S. Marshal's Office in Orlando.
