The search is on for a school bus that was stolen from Father Lopez Catholic High School over the weekend in Volusia County.

Roger Reichard, the maintenance supervisor at the school, told Daytona Beach police that he left the school around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, after the school's homecoming football game. The maintenance area was secure, and all four school buses on the property were accounted for, Reichard said.

He returned to the school around 5:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, and noticed the exit gate was open and the chain was missing. The school is located at 3918 LPGA Blvd., in Daytona Beach.

Reichard noticed a 40-passenger yellow school bus with "Father Lopez Catholic High School" written on both sides was missing. The three other buses on the lot were also entered, police said.

According to surveillance videos on the school's campus, a man arrived to the property near the maintenance building around 11:30 p.m. The man was wearing a dark, hooded jacket with shorts and sandals. The man is seen in the video concealing his face with the hood of the jacket.

The man remained on campus for about 3.5 hours, police said. He tore through a fence as he drove off school property around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20. Reichard estimates the damage to the fence is approximately $20,000 to $25,000.

The stolen bus has Florida tag X8949A. The value of the bus is around $40,000.

Two school buses were stolen from Flagler County in August 2013. The buses were eventually found in November 2013 in Gainesville.
