A big dogfighting ring bust in Brevard County rescued dogs behing held in horrific conditions and forced to fight.

It happened on Airboat Road near S.R. 520 Friday afternoon. This isn't the first time deputies have been to this home.

BCSO shared pictures they took of the scene.

There's one of several dogs found in a cage on the property. You can see a dog cowering in the corner. Others are seen tied to trees with heavy chains.

They also have pictures of the suspected dogfighting arena, housed in a covered shed about the size of a two-car garage. Chairs were placed outside the ring for spectators to watch the dogs pitted against each other. Investigators said the carpet is stained with blood.

Our cameras were rolling as investigators detained 40-year-old Siricia Mitchell -- the accused dogfighting ring leader. Deputies also found five to eight pounds of pot on the property.

We're told Mitchell was busted for drugs and dogfighting at this same property back in 2009. Glenn Cole lives across the street and remembers that raid.

"I would have thought he learned his lesson the first time," said Cole.

Mitchell was arrested and taken away to jail, charged with dogfighting and drug possession.

The sheriff's office is now in charge of the county animal services. They are the ones who took in the dogs.

We're told the staff vet will examine them and get them into a safe environment.
