Nearly 200 endangered sea turtles that became stranded on Cape Cod will be airlifted to Florida.

The New England Aquarium says the U.S. Coast Guard will ship the Kemp's Ridley turtles to Orlando before the animals are sent to marine rehabilitation facilities.

The stranded turtles, weighing up to 10 pounds, were collected by the Massachusetts Audubon Society at Wellfleet Bay and treated at the aquarium's marine animal hospital in Quincy.

After the 193 sea turtles are flown to Florida on Tuesday, more than 150 others will stay behind at the Massachusetts hospital for a four-day rewarming process. Nearly 100 more are being cared for at a Wellfleet Nature Center.

The animals become stranded when they can't figure out how to get out of Cape Cod Bay to get to warmer waters.
