Army Specialist Kelli Bordeaux, who was last seen alive in April 2012, has been laid to rest in Osceola County.

It was a tranquil day at the Mount Peace Cemetery in St. Cloud, where Bordeaux was laid to rest this afternoon.

But the memorial service, was an emotional one, and was followed by a moving tribute from Bordeaux’s fellow soldiers.

“We gather here this afternoon to remember and honor the life of Specialist Kelli Bordeaux. We are reminded that she was a daughter, a sister and a friend,” said U.S. Army Chaplain Capt. Lelys Miller.

About 100 people attended the memorial service at Cornerstone Church in St Cloud Saturday afternoon.

“I asked her mother why did she become a medic?  The simple answer was because she cared for people and wanted to help them,” said Chaplain Miller.

Army Specialist Kelli Bordeaux was well liked in her medic unit, which was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Her friends back home in St. Cloud hope the memorial service will begin to bring closure to Bordeaux's grieving family.

“This is a great tragedy to this family but I will always be here for you guys no matter what. I love you,” said one of many friends who chose not give their name.

“Now we maybe we finally have some kind of closure and I know it’s difficult to understand. I don’t think we’ll ever understand it. Maybe one day when we get there we might but I still believe Romans 8: no matter what, all things work for the good of them that love Christ,” said another friend.

Specialist Bordeaux was 23 years old.

Two weeks ago, police in North Carolina arrested 27-year-old Nicholas Holbert with her murder; Holbert remains in jail.
