An Orlando company landed a nearly $65 million contract to build a new headquarters building at the Kennedy Space Center.

Hensel Phelps Construction Company was just awarded the two-year contract worth $64,823,000.

The new HQ building is part of KSC's central campus consolidation. Plans are to demolish 900,000 square feet of current building space, making way for the 450,000 square foot facility in Kennedy's industrial area.

NASA says it will save $400 million over the next 40 years by cutting the square footage in half, lowering operation and maintenance costs of the new energy efficient building.
