What would have been an unlikely photo-op six years ago has now become the norm for the Florida Democratic Party.

Several big name Democrats joined Charlie Crist on what they called a “Unity Tour” Thursday, as they try to convince skeptical party members that Crist is one of them now.

DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Sen. Bill Nelson and Crist’s primary opponent Nan Rich joined him at his Orlando stop, which took place at a union hall.

“I know it’s going to come as a shock when I say we haven’t always agreed on everything,” Wasserman Schultz said. “I’ll admit there were times when I worked against him when he was governor, but there were also times when we worked together.”

Rich gave Crist a glowing endorsement as well, as the party puts on a unified front heading into the November election.

“It’s great to start unified today from the get-go, and God bless you Nan Rich for doing that, talk about class,” Crist said.

The team of Democrats outlined their issues with Gov. Rick Scott, some of which you can expect to hear more about on the campaign trail including marriage equality, public education reform and increasing the minimum wage.

“When Rick Scott cut public education his first year in office by $1.3 billion, it broke my heart. Then he turned down high speed rail, it broke my heart again,” said Crist.

Outside the union hall, Scott's supporters pointed out how Crist supported Florida’s right to work law as a Republican governor.

“These institutionalized Democrats are here to convince freethinkers that Charlie Crist is a Democrat, and they are not going to buy it,” said Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne.

But the Democrats are hoping the voters buy into the new Democrat. It’s just one challenge they will have to overcome to win, along with Scott's money and low voter turnout.
