A massive project, years in the making, got the green light Tuesday in Orlando.

Orange County Commissioners gave their official support to the UCF-Valencia College Creative Village project.

The commissioners pledged $3 million from the county toward construction of the joint downtown campus.

But, the contribution relies upon several factors, including approvals by the Florida Board of Governors, and ultimately the Governor.

“We’re hoping that by showing united support here locally, that that will help give them the momentum to begin this initiative," said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs.

The 68-acre Creative Village -- set on the site of the former Amway Arena -- will be a tech hub for business, transportation and education.

The project goes before the Florida Board of Governors Thursday.
