Thousands of St. Pete College students walked across the stage at Tropicana Field Saturday for graduation. And this year, two students proved you’re never too young or too old to start getting an education.

Grandmother Nancy Killian, 76, went back to school because when she was younger she had other priorities.

“People didn’t really think as much about women going to school,” Killian said.

Instead she became a wife, mother and later, grandmother. So in her late 70’s and inspired by her three grandchildren in college, she decided to go back. It was at St. Petersburg College she discovered a love for learning.

“I liked Humanities and even World Religion, which I thought I’d hate,” Killian said.

Killian said age shouldn’t be a factor if you want more out of your life.

“ Just go for it,” Killian said.

Victoria Uline also has the go-getter attitude. Victoria graduated from St. Pete College before she even graduated high school. The 16 year old is the youngest graduate this year.

“People are shocked,” Uline said.

Uline still managed to be the captain of her high school varsity swim team, hold down two jobs and tackle a full college workload.

“It’s crazy, my schedule is always crazy. But I like being busy,” Uline said.

Uline is determined to make something of herself. “I hope to be a news anchor or a reporter.”

Uline is one step closer as she walked down the aisle at Tropicana Field to get her degree. A certificate of personal success that is cherished no matter what generation you come from.

Uline said she will receive her high school diploma in about a month. Both women plan on continuing their education.
