The second man to walk on the moon says he's ready for his newest challenge.

Earlier this month, we told you Florida Tech hired Buzz Aldrin as its newest professor. The school held a signing ceremony Thursday to establish the Buzz Aldrin Institute.

The institute will promote the settlement of Mars through research.

Aldrin certainly has the resume for the job. He walked on the moon with Neil Armstrong, and he has a Ph.D from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Aldrin said he's taking this opportunity to make Florida Tech a destination for future astronauts.

"Florida Tech will be able to come up to speed at the level of the national institutions, like Purdue and MIT and Caltech and Georgia Tech," Aldrin said.

Aldrin will teach aeronautics classes at Florida Tech.
