Weather is at 40 percent "go" for Friday's United Launch Alliance launch of an Atlas V rocket that will send a military satellite into orbit.

The rocket will carry the U.S. Air Force's 12th Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF satellite into orbit.

GPS IIF-12 is one of the next-generation GPS satellites, incorporating various improvements to provide greater accuracy, increased signals, and enhanced performance for users.

The 19-minute launch window opens up at 8:38 a.m.

It will be ULA's first launch of 2016.
