The recall affects the sunflower kernels sold under the brands Planters Sunflower Kernels and Dakota’s Best Biggy’z Roasted and Salted Kernels. The kernels were sold in Illinois and North Dakota, but the FDA said the product could have been redistributed to other states.

Officials are urging anyone with one of the affected products to throw it away or take it back to the store for a refund.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection to the sunflower kernels, according to SunOpta.

Listeria can cause serious infection to the stomach and intestines. Symptoms include high fever, abdominal pain and nausea.

It can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly, children and anyone with a weakened immune system.
