Bright House Sports Network held their first of multiple photo shoots with our Top 30 football players. Here are some of the recruiting notes and photos from today's session.

Armwood

Leon McQuay III, Safety, Class of 2013

  • Says his top schools are Vanderbilt, Michigan and USC, in no specific order
  • "All of them have good music programs. Michigan has a great coaching staff and the fan base is crazy. It’s a lot of love up there."
  • He was very impressed with the "Big House" at Michigan, “It was crazy, it was huge.”
  • McQuay hasn't been to USC yet, but raves about head coach Lane Kiffin. Plus, he likes the idea of living in California.
  • As for Vanderbilt, he loved the coaching staff there too.

Alvin Bailey, Wide Receiver, Class of 2013

  • On UCF trip: "very, very great. It was a wonderful experience to get up there and see the coaches and dorms."
  • UCF dubbed Bailey and Tampa Bay Tech WR Richard Benjamin "Thunder and Lightning" during their trip to campus.
  • "We already know (UCF) fans are talking about us and stuff."
  • Hasn't changed his list of top 13 schools since he released them. They are: FSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, Michigan, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, UCF, Texas A&M, South Carolina, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
  • Says he's going to visit Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina and FSU this summer on visits.
  • Here's how he would sell himself to college programs: "I'm going to tell you coach, I don't think anyone is going to work harder than me. I'm going to make plays at whatever position I'm at. I'm going to do whatever I need to do for the team to win."
  • Side note: Alvin Bailey is secretly afraid of frogs. Yes, frogs.

Jesuit

Travis Johnson, Wide Receiver, Class of 2013

  • He's preparing for the 7-on-7 at USF this weekend
  • Heading to USC for a camp later this month with Vincent Jackson.
  • There's a "Team Tampa" bus tour that a bunch of the Tampa kids are going on to tour schools. Clemson, Alabama, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Georgia are on the list.
  • Schools that are picking up the phones when Travis calls: Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Missouri, Florida, USC and Notre Dame. Says he isn't wasting time with schools that won't respond to him.
  • Here's his current top 15 list: Michigan State, Auburn, Mississippi State, NC State, Florida, Miami, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, South Florida, West Virgina, Clemson and Vanderbilt.
  • Side note: Johnson's pre-game ritual includes eating green grapes. He's been doing it since a young boy.

Vincent Jackson, Linebacker, Class of 2014

  • Still recovering from a foot sprain over the summer, so it's been a slow summer.
  • Heading to USC for a camp later this month with Travis Johnson.
  • Vincent will most likely be joining the Team Tampa bus tour.
  • Both Travis and Vincent showed up in brand new Nike uniforms during the shoot today. In his first 15 minutes, VJ spilled coffee on his brand-new pants.
  • Side note: He hates sushi, but loves to eat Taco Bell.

Lakewood

Rodney Adams, Wide Receiver, Class of 2013

  • He's already committed to Florida, but says multiple schools continue to contact him, like USF, West Virginia and Miami.
  • "For me, I'm just visiting Gainesville every chance I get."
  • Advice he gives to guys on committing early: "I just tell them to take it slow, think of their options and go with thier heart."
  • On why he committed to Florida early: "I wanted to get it out of the way and focus on school and my senior year. I just carry the motto that I'm going to be a Gator one day."
  • On Gainesville: "It's great. It's a great feeling going up there. Great people, group of guys and great coaching staff. The people up in Gainesville, they're crazy. They love it."
  • Side note: He hates avocado, but loves to eat cheeseburgers. He was also wearing gloves with the Florida Gator logo today.

Carrollwood Day

Robert Davis, Running Back, Class of 2013

  • He ran a 4.37 and 4.38 at Georgia Tech this weekend. He said it really surprised him.
  • Two other running backs already committed to GT, and they are bigger than Robert, but he says the staff said they would stay in contact with him.
  • He's next visit will be to Cincinnati, then FAU.
  • If he gets first BCS offer: "I'm really hoping that comes in soon. I've been talking to a lot of schools, like Iowa State and such. They are really high on me. I just hope that comes in soon. I'm ready to play some big ball."
  • On selling himself to college programs: "Robert Davis works hard everyday. On and off the field, he's a team player. Whatever he needs to do to get better, he's doing it. He's a fast kid with great hands and nice size, but he can get a little bigger and he'll work on that. He's there to help the team."
  • Side note: Not much scares him on the football field, but off it, he's scared of spiders.

Hillsborough

Jordan Sherit, Defensive End, Class of 2013

  • He talked to Miami and head coach Al Golden on the phone today: "He stressed the importance of building a Tampa connection here...he really wants me to come back and check it out."
  • Of being recruited by Miami with the scandal from last season: "I think whatever school you decide to go to, it won't be on whether they can go to bowl games or not. For me, I would want to go to a school that's best for me even if I didn't play football...whether they are competing in bowl games or not."
  • He hasn't made a top schools list, but mentioned Stanford, Notre Dame, and Florida will be in his top 10 when he makes it.
  • He's visited Florida, Miami, USF, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He'll be visiting FSU this week, then Georgia and Clemson.
  • Side note: Sherit was born in Coral Gables. He's also a HEAT fan.
