Before Friday night, Northside Christian had already won more games (6) than the previous three seasons combined.

The Mustangs football program continued their impressive comeback with a 32-14 victory over Carrollwood Day School to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

The win gives Northside Christian, at the very least, second place in the Class 2A-District 5 race. They need some help from Cambridge next week against Indian Rocks Christian for a shot at the district title.

With the game knotted at 14-all in the second half, Northside Christian scored three times in the span of two minutes and 48 seconds. The first, a 27-yard field goal by sophomore Griffin Alstott.

Then the Mustangs defense forced a three-and-out to give the ball back to the offense and junior Josh Snead sprinted into the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown.  Northside Christian’s defense came up big again with a turnover, which the Mustangs offense turned into a four-yard touchdown run by Kamen Wilmington.
