Lakeland is back on top of Polk County, taking down archrival Kathleen 21-2 to finish with their seventh undefeated regular season in the last ten years and their first district title since 2011.

The Dreadnaughts used a suffocating defense to avenge last year's loss to Kathleen, which was the Red Devils first win since 1992.  Player of the Game Kelvin Broome led a unit that held Kathleen to just 85 total yards.

Lakeland's offense was effective enough to secure the win.  After a Carter Purcell interception put the Dreadnaughts in Kathleen territory, Anthony Davis was able to punch it in from nine yards out for the first points of the game and his 12th TD of the season.

In the second half, Ra'don Dwight rushed for 44 of his 50 yards along with his 8th TD of the year.  QB Aaron Johnson (7-14, 107 yds, TD) found Mike Randolph for a 27-yd TD to close out the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Lakeland (10-0, 5-0) will have home-field advantage for their first round playoff game in two weeks.  With district wins by Bartow and Haines City, Kathleen (5-4, 3-2) ends in a three-way tie for second place.  Bartow will host the tiebreaker on Monday.
