Lakewood is one win away from matching last year's best football season in school history, and the Spartans have Ryan Davis to thank.

The coveted senior athlete rushed for three touchdowns in Lakewood's 26-3 win over River Ridge in this Class 5A regional semifinal.

Lakewood, the District 8 champs, started slow offensively in the first half, as the Royal Knights, champions of District 7, scored first in the second quarter on a field goal by Tyler Grimes.

Davis responded with a 19-yard touchdown run to put Lakewood up 7-3 at the half.

David scored on runs of 16-yards and 23-yards in the third and fourth quarter respectively, while Romello Presley ran in from three yards out to cap the scoring and leading to the 26-3 final.

Chris Schwarz ran for 158 yards for River Ridge in the losing effort.

Lakewood will next host Live Oak Suwannee in the Region 2 championship game next Friday night.
