Following his illustrious career with the Knights, UCF standout guard Isaiah Sykes has accepted an invitation to play in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament later this week.

Sykes earned an invitation to the event in Virginia, which will feature 64 seniors from across the nation participating in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team and many international scouts.

One of the most versatile players in the country, Sykes finished his career at UCF in the top-ten all-time in points (1,545, 8th), rebounds (764, 4th), steals (183, 3rd), and assists (336, 5th).  The guard earned All-American Athletic Conference Second Team honors after leading the Knights with 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game as a senior.

Over the years the Portsmouth Invitational has been a showcase for many young men who have gone on to play in the NBA, including Rick Barry, Earl Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton, and Scottie Pippen.

Last year UCF’s Keith Clanton participated in the event, leading his team to the title and earning all-tournament team accolades.  Former Knight Jermaine Taylor also played in the P.I.T. before being selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

This spring’s 62nd Annual Invite will be held from April 16-19 at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va.
