ST PETERSBURG - Who said 13 was an unlucky number?  Not Northeast.  There's nothing unlucky about a 13-game winning streak.

"I thought we were going to have a good team from the start," said Vikings senior centerfielder Chris Clark. "We have a lot of seniors and a lot of good pitching."

"It was towards the beginning of the season, we killed our preseason opponents, and I was like, 'wow, we could really have something special here," said senior pitcher Josh Hale.

But the Viking started out the season with two straight losses, and needing something to spark the offense.

"After one of our early games, our coach was frustrated that we weren't hitting," explains Clark. "So he took the bats and stuck them in the trash can.  That next inning we started scoring, so we started putting the bats in the trash can."

The superstitions don't end there...

"I wear the same pants to practice," Hale said.  "I wear my same pink socks too."

Hale hasn't washed those practice pants since the winning streak started.

The Vikings sit at 13 straight wins, and with the postseason just a week or so away, they're hoping they can keep those wins coming.

"I see no reason why it has to stop," Hale said.

We're just going to take it one day at a time."
