Jefferson clung to a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th during the Class 6A District 9 softball title game against arch-rival Chamberlain.

The Chiefs, who hadn't lost since March 28th, led off their last at bat with a pinch-hit double by freshman Reganne McCarl.  The 2012 state champions, managed to get runners on second and third twice, but could not convert.

The Dragons slayed the rally to capture the title and home-field advantage during regionals.

Jefferson's title was delayed at least 15 minutes after the third inning.  The power went out at Blake High School shutting down the lights on the field.  The Dragons stayed loose.  They even danced to the Cha Cha Slide over the PA system.  After the lights came back, Jefferson turned on their power.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Sophomore Justine Fernandez connected for what turned out to be the game-winning two-RBI double.  Their defense took them the rest of the way.

The Dragons will host Osceola in the regional opener Wednesday.  They lost to Mitchell 13-8 in the Class 6A District 10 title game.
