ST PETERSBURG - Jonathan Rudich is only 18, but he's one of the best windsurfers in the country.

“Every time I go out on the water, it’s like freedom,” Rudich said.

“We exposed him and his brother to a lot of sports," said Harriet Rudich, John's mom. "He took to windsurfing immediately.”

The sports seems simpul enough, but when John's not training on his board, you can find him doing other various expercises.

“Whenever I’m out of the water, I'm doing yoga, rock climbing,” explains Rudich.

Jonathan makes it look like a breeze, and for good reason.  He's so good that the U.S. Sailing Team recently came calling.  With the 2016 Summer Olympics closing in, he's quickly become a contender.

“I never imagined going to the Olympics," Rudich said. "Just recently that became a reality.”

The competition will be tough, but if Rudich can make it, he's confident he'll keep his head above water.
