Canterbury could not over come the heavy rain or Bradenton Christian's strong running attack.
The Panthers ran for 305 yards on 34 carries and five touchdowns in a 39-22 victory on Friday night.
Coaches will tell you only throwing for 14 yards isn't always a winning formula, but it is when you can't grip the football and have a great running game.
"Our offensive line was outstanding tonight, they helped us control the tempo," Panthers head coach Allan Gerber said.
Junior Zack Cooper rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns behind that stout offensive line.
"I give all the glory to God, and my guys up front," Cooper said. "They made my job easy tonight."
The Crusaders had trouble moving the ball in the poor conditions, only scoring six points in the second half.
"Our game plan was based around airing the ball out, and tonight we couldn't do that," Canterbury head coach Bill Jones said.
The weather was certainly a factor all night and benefited the Panthers especially against a team that lacked depth.
On the first play of the second half Dusty Peebles took a quarterback keeper in for a 59-yard touchdown run.
"I loved playing in this weather, I knew I wasn't going to be able to throw well tonight, but we got the win and that's all that matters," Peebles said.
The senior ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns of his own.
"We just didn't make adjustments, and they exposed us," coach Jones said.
Canterbury's Josh Belton hit Alex Nelson for an 85-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.
Freshman Travis Windham closed the door on a Crusaders comeback with a 2-yard touchdown run moments later.
"My guys played great tonight, it was a total team effort," coach Gerber said.
