The season opener for the #1 team in the Tampa Bay area went as anticipated, as Clearwater Central Catholic showed very little rust in their opening set against District foe Indian Rocks Christian.

Seniors Katie Moore and Shea Hamilton led an explosive Marauders team to a straight-set victory, 25-10, 25-12, 25-12. The pair combined for 25 Kills, 6 Blocks and 3 Aces, with Moore taking home the BHSN Player of the Game.

CCC, led by its sextet of starting seniors, have their sights set on Silver Spurs Arena, the home of the 2014 Volleyball State Championships. Thursday’s District match was an emphatic step in that direction.

Indian Rocks Christian didn’t lay down for the juggernaut across the net. Even when they were down a set they pushed back and forced CCC into hitting errors, while creating an impressive run of their own.

Clearwater Christian Catholic will look to continue their strong play against Calvary Christian on Tuesday.

Indian Rocks Christian won’t have to wait long to rebound from Thursday’s loss, as they host Sarasota Christian on Friday.
