The Bayshore Bruins offense exploded vs. Lakewood on the Game of the Week for a 10-8 victory to clinch the #1 seed in next month's 5A District 10 tournament.  Player of the Game Joanna Muldoon (3-3, 3B, 3 runs, 5 RBI) and LaShara James (3-3, 2B. 3B, 3 runs, RBI) spearheaded an attack that scored double-digit runs for the fifth time this season.

With star pitcher and slugger Miriam Schmoll out for the year with a torn ACL, head coach Frank Luther talked about the "next girl up" mentality and it was  freshman Courtney Ueltschi who stepped into the circle and picked up her third win of the season, battling through jams nearly the entire game.

Lakewood gave the Bruins a run for their money in the battle between the district's two best teams.  Angelina Carney finished 3-for-4 with 5 RBI, while leadoff hitter Allison Campbell (3-3, BB, 3 runs) and 2-hole hitter Sarah Snell (3-3, BB, 3 runs) got on base in all eight of their at-bats.  Campbell might have given up ten runs, but she had her moments on the mound too, striking out 10 Bruins.

Bayshore (10-2, 7-0), ranked 15th in the nation by MaxPreps, will return to action next week vs. county foe Southeast, in their final district game.  Lakewood (7-5, 5-2) faces non-district opponent Osceola on Thursday.
