As JoJo Muldoon tries to catch "craisins" in her mouth in the dugout, a smile gleems from her face and her voice is full of laughter.

A teammate throws the dried fruit snacks through the air, and Muldoon eats them before they can hit the ground.

This is just one way Muldoon and the rest of the nationally-ranked Bruins deal with the pressure of having targets on their backs.

"When I laugh, I feel like it releases stress for me and I feel like it could help the team as well," Muldoon said.  "So I try to be serious but fun at the same time."

JoJo has been successful in both categories.

Muldoon's 3-3 night at the plate with 5 RBI and 3 runs against Lakewood on March 17 helped her earn the title of Bright House Sports Network Athlete of the Week.

Her fun-loving attitude, talent, and strong leadership have helped guide the Bruins (15th-ranked nationally in the latest MaxPreps Poll) to a 10-2 start to the season.

The junior centerfielder is part of a loaded Bayshore offense that includes LaShara James and Taylor Izatt that has scored more than 10 runs five times.

Bayshore has already clinched the top seed in the District tournament, but Muldoon and the rest of the Bruins lineup will need to keep things rolling now that star pitcher Miriam Schmoll is out for the season with a torn ACL.

"She carried the weight for awhile pitching," Muldoon said.  "And now it's our turn to actually really step up and do our job."

"I didn't have to go up to her and say, 'JoJo- Miriam's hurt- you've got to step it up now,'" head coach Frank Luther said.  "She did it on her own."

Muldoon entered this week hitting .323 with 18 runs and 26 steals in 26 attempts.

She hopes to lead the Bruins back to the state final four- a place Luther believes his team can reach even without Schmoll on the rubber.
