Experience was key in Saturday’s girls State Water Polo Championship game as defending champs and host Ransom Everglades earned their fifth program title over Lake Nona, 14-10.

The Lion’s led after back-to-back goals from junior Amy Branch at the 4:45 mark in the first quarter, 2-1.

At half though, the Lion’s found themselves down five before making their last push in the fourth to cut the lead to three.

Lake Nona will only graduate two off this year’s squad and believes this experience will serve them well for next season.

“This is the stepping stone,” Coach Alex Bennett said. “And I told them that they need to watch the celebration and know how it feels –you know getting to the semis all these years and finally getting to the finals and now we need this experience to win.”
