The Tampa Bay Buccanners have traded two-time Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson to the Washington Redskins for an undisclosed 2016 draft pick.

Tampa Bay gets very little out of the deal. Washington will also receive Tampa Bay's seventh-round pick next year, while the Bucs will get the Redskins' sixth-round pick in the same draft.

Goldson failed to live up tot eh five-year, $41.25 million contract he signed as a free agent in 2013. The Bucs will pay $4 million that was guaranteed of Goldson's $7.5 million salary in 2015, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan was on the San Francisco staff when Goldson was drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round in 2007. Washington is replacing 2014 starting safeties Ryan Clark (retirement) and Brandon Meriweather (unrestricted free agent).

Goldson went to the Pro Bowl following his 2011 and 2012 seasons with the 49ers.

The 30-year-old safety signed with the Buccaneers in 2013 and started 27 games over the past two seasons. He had 151 tackles and an interception and nine pass defenses.
